YOUTH ART LABS

In 2010, the Access Arts program started our youth art labs, specializing in the creative process and public art. Partnering with Wolverine Human Services, two 8 week long workshops were held, culminating in having the kids produce work for the Belle Isle Art Exhibits in July and October of that year.
In 2011 Access produced four 9 week long youth art labs with students this time creating artwork for our Scripps Park Art Exhibit, again showing next to established local artists. This time the program partnered with Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corporation, Detroit Public Library Frederick Douglas branch, Wolverine Human Services and YouthVille Detroit. Funding was received by more than 70 individual donors, Detroit Parks & Recreation and Michigan Council of Arts & Cultural Affairs.
